Prof. Mastai and his colleagues have gained an international reputation in these fields and have pioneered several new concepts and techniques in the area of SAMs for the preparation of chiral nanosurfaces for chiral resolution by crystallization. His latest work demonstrates the large-scale synthesis of chiral polymeric carbon nitride (CN) powder and electrodes capable of enantioselective recognition from chiral supramolecular assemblies as monomers. The optimized chiral CN exhibits good chiral recognition for tartaric acid, with an enantioselective preference of ca. 14% for the D enantiomer. Chiral polymeric carbon nitride (CN).
