| 80 | 2024 Annual Report Abstract We prepare complex nano-scale devices made of quantum electronics and magnetic materials using physical vapor deposition and clean-room nanofabrication techniques. We study the basic properties of the materials and devices toward a better understanding of the underlying physics and novel applications. Our research includes correlated electronic effects in the metal-insulator transition of transition metal oxides, the chiral-induced spin selectivity effect in hybrid devices, and novel magnetic and electronic platform for bio-interfacing neuronal systems. A facile physical route atop polystyrene particles prepares dome-shaped particles. Particles are 1.5 size and only 50 nm thick. We have examined the co-transcriptional processing of mRNA at the site of transcription and its coupling to transcription; followed the dynamics of signaling pathways as they converge at the promoter and activate transcription; quantified the dynamic travels of mRNPs from the gene throughout the nucleoplasm and export through the NPC; examined the fate of mRNA in the cytoplasm in P bodies and stress granules; and followed the changes in the nucleus upon viral infection. We use live-cell measurements on fluorescence microscopes, including quantifying the measured processes using single-molecule analysis and mathematical modeling.
